Apple boosts the security of its stores for the gold Apple Watch

The upcoming Apple Watch looks like it could radically change the way Apple Stores operate, with the stores getting fitted with high security vaults to house the expensive gold versions. The safes don't just give Apple Stores a highly secure place to keep their stock, much like jewellery stores, but have been custom designed with Apple Watch MagSafe chargers to keep the demo units charged while being stored over night.
The gold version of the Apple Watch is expected to be made with real gold and could have an asking price of around £1,000, possibly even more, and because of this Apple has seen fit to boost the security of its stores to house the luxury smartwatches before they are sold.

During February Apple will also be training some of its staff to correctly demonstrate and sell the Apple Watch. The Cupertino company has hired executives and retail staff from the fashion and luxury industry, and it's expected that this new influx of staff will help shape Apple's sales process when it comes to the Apple Watch, giving Apple Stores a more fashion boutique experience.

There has also been speculation that for the sale of the 18 karat gold version the sales process will be even more personal, with a special customisation, fitting and tutorial session and maybe an in-store gift-wrapping service to give the process of buying the gold Apple Watch a truly premium feel. For the price Apple could be asking for the gold Apple Watch, it's the least it can do.
